Overall Satisfaction with DISCO Ediscovery

We use DISCO Ediscovery for my firm's cases with large discovery demands. Attorneys use it to manage case discovery, to review and to produce documents. We use it for investigations and for its tagging and AI tagging capabilities. DISCO Ediscovery has powerful and intuitive search operators. Compared to Relativity, it is simpler and quicker to use. I have used it to create complex privilege logs and to review documents almost every day.

Pros

  • DISCO Ediscovery's search terms are intuitive and powerful.
  • DISCO Ediscovery allows you to easily extract lists of document metadata and attorney work product.
  • DISCO Ediscovery makes productions easy, including bates numbering documents.

Cons

  • Analyzing near duplicates
  • Identifying unique email or "inclusive" emails
  • OCR could be improved (already great) to pick up smaller-sized text
  • It drastically speeds up document review.
  • It has drastically reduced the time to make productions.
  • It simplifies and is efficient in troubleshooting and preparing documents for production.
  1. Search functions--DISCO Ediscovery's intuitive and powerful search functions are my favorite. I have studied and constantly review DISCO Ediscovery's search term manual available online. It makes my searches effective.
  2. Tagging and AI tagging--I find the AI-suggested tags to be super helpful and have found hot documents with these suggestions.
  3. DISCO Ediscovery interface--the interface is simpler and a lot more user friendly than many competitors.
Although the DISCO Ediscovery costs can be higher and not appropriate for small matters, there is an incredible value for DISCO Ediscovery when it comes to larger cases with larger discovery demands. It reduces dramatically the amount of time our team needs to find certain documents. DISCO Ediscovery adds value in the way it allows collaboration and sharing of discovery documents.
DISCO Ediscovery allows our firm to quickly search and share documents and to review tags and work product[s] created by other attorneys at our firm. This greatly impacts our firm's performance, especially in matters that are large, and involve investigation and careful review of documents.
Though I haven't used these features a lot, I rely on AI tagging and suggested tags to find important documents. The way that DISCO Ediscovery displays metadata of a document, and DISCO Ediscovery can identify and present hidden content, such as deleted tabs, etc. on production materials, has been very helpful.
The reliability and quickness of DISCO Ediscovery, along with the interface which is simple and intuitive. The sidebar that presents metadata filters and tags is helpful to users with less technical experience.
I have not yet used any other products by DISCO, outside of DISCO Ediscovery.

DISCO Ediscovery is well suited for documents that are conventionally formatted, etc. DISCO Ediscovery has a harder time with smaller-than-usual text or funky formats, such as PDFs generated from spreadsheets. DISCO Ediscovery sometimes lags [from my experience] and documents do not load (but it is still faster than Relativity). DISCO Ediscovery has no feature to search for inclusive documents, the IsInclusive feature only works with emails.
