Overall Satisfaction with DraftSight
Used to create P&ID and schematics for Control Systems. Also used to plan control systems upgrades and piping details.
Drawings are accessible by other trade groups to aid in location of equipment.
Drawings are also used for contractors to bid on projects.
Saves time and money in designing control systems.
- Layer Management
- Contextual application (Right mouse click)
- Print layout
- Home by Me window always pops-up on startup! Annoying in my opinion
- Why open a No-Name_0 window? I am almost always going to open a file!
- Slow to open
- Ease of use
- Printing to PDF
- Version coherence
- We are a non-profit, so really not applicable
DraftSight is very similar to order versions of AutoCAD, so the learning curve was minimal. Of course the language and commands are different; which takes some getting used to. I still have to think "Sheet Mode" and "Model Mode". I haven't really used the 3D capabilities, but I understand that they are a bit clunky. My org selected DraftSight because of price point. Great functionality for $150! Autodesk wanted $800 for a license.
