Use Cases and Deployment Scope

Druva Phoenix is used for enterprise server data protection. Includes cloud servers, on-prem virtual servers, and on-prem physical servers.

Pros and Cons

VMWare virtual server backups via hypervisor.
Clean intuitive admin portal.
Support for most server OS flavors.

System state server backup is not supported. This is not an OS configuration backup tool. Need to run system state dump on Windows which Druva will then backup.
Druva Phoenix is not tightly integrated into Druva inSync.

Return on Investment

Relatively cheap.
Low maintenance.
Good error reporting reducing admin time performing analysis.

Usability

The excellent admin portal and proactively engaging customer success engineers get you what you need.

Support Rating

Proactive support is offered by customer success engineers who provide training as well as hand holding where needed.

Alternatives Considered

CommVault and Zerto

Druva Phoenix is much simpler to use, however, has far less sophisticated capabilities.

Great for small shops with relatively simple server and NAS data protection requirements. Good options for scheduling and retention. If speedy disaster recovery RPOs are required, then consider a tool supporting full bare-metal restores.
