Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We back up several hundred production servers with Phoenix. It is our primary backup system.

Pros and Cons

Fast backups.
Fast restores.
Excellent deduplication.
Application aware backups.

Cannot backup a GPT vmdk.
Proxy deployment is not always successful.
User interface could be more intuitive.

Return on Investment

Reduced expenses for server backup.
Reduced backup administrator expenses.
Eliminated the cost of maintaining an on-prem backup infrastructure.

Usability

It does what it is supposed to do, really well. The user interface could be more intuitive.

Support Rating

There has not been a problem that support could not resolve. They are responsive and knowledgeable. We are very happy with the level of support we have received.

Alternatives Considered

Veeam Backup & Replication

We chose Druva Phoenix over Veeam because the of the backup storage tiering, the performance and the ability to do physical server backups and application aware backups.

Likelihood to Recommend

Perfect backup solution for entire VMware virtual machines if the VM has MBR disks.

Excellent dedupe/compression ratios.

Fast single file restores from VMDK backup.

Fast agent based backups for physical machines.
