Overall Satisfaction with Accruent EMS Software

We've been using EMS for several years now and have found it to be efficient and easy to use for both desktop and web based clients. We have very few issues and when we have, we have had a positive response to our questions. We are not yet using it campus wide, but hope to incorporate other buildings in the future. Right now our student union buildings and visitor's center are the only buildings that use EMS.

  • Negative - doesn't notify the desktop user when an event is input by web user; have to physically check often to ensure nothing is missed
Our former provider was RESS. It was sufficient, but hard to use, difficult to navigate and not user friendly to the web-based client. Prior to that I used a Sharepoint calendar, which had definite limitations and no access from outsiders, I was the one who had to put in every single reservation.

EMS is much easier to use than our previous reservation system. Even though only two departments are currently using this program, it can easily be modified to accommodate others on campus. It is user friendly on both the Desktop and Web-based clients. We now have the ability to view calendars for other buildings which makes it easier to help visitor's locate where their events are taking place.

Using Accruent EMS Software

20 - Currently the student union buildings and the Visitor's Center are the only departments using the desktop EMS on campus. The Visitor's Center has about 14 people trained to use the system, as does the Unions. There are probably only about 7 or 8 who are using it in a given moment. The web based product is available by all members on campus - approximately 1,500.
We do not have anyone dedicated to support EMS software. Since we were in the beginning stages of configuration, the Director of the Unions and myself probably have the best knowledge of the product and pretty much can solve most problems. When this isn't possible, we have easy access to EMS Support.

At this point it's a necessity of our business. We rely so heavily on this product that it would devastate the entire system should we change or lose it!

Configuring Accruent EMS Software

EMS has the ability to do just about anything you want. They have thought through the most frequently used scenarios and incorporated that in the system, yet the user has the ability to use User Defined Fields to track any other information they deem important. I wish that the User Defined Fields could be specific to buildings as it would be more beneficial for individual needs.
