Overall Satisfaction with Evernote

I'm an investigative reporter for a one-person organization who uses Evernote to store ideas for long-term projects and articles. Before I installed Evernote, I would save bookmarks and forget later why I had done so. By using the notebooks and tabs in Evernote, I can label and organize my work much better than I did before.
  • Evernote Web Clipper in Google Chrome. Saving web pages and links is simple to do with this browser.
  • Notebooks are helpful for sorting notes by category.
  • Tags can be used to sort note within notebooks.
  • Synching the account online and on hard drives. Makes Evernote easy to access.
  • Evernote Web Clipper on Mozilla Firefox. I would prefer to use Google Chrome's fancier clipper, but the browser hogs too much memory on my computer. However, the basic functions are available on Firefox.
  • Better long-term planning
  • Increased ability to prioritize projects
I had tried Microsoft OneNote after installing and using Evernote, but it didn't have many of the features to which I had grown accustomed. But OneNote may be a better option for Outlook users who want to keep and share all of their data via the OneDrive or Microsoft Office 365.
The key question to ask is, "How will the company or department use Evernote?" It seems to be well suited for employee collaboration as well as for individual organization. I've noticed options for sharing notes with team members, but, as a one-person operation, I don't use those. Evernote may be less appropriate for anyone who prefers to use old-fashioned Post-Its and to-do lists to prioritize their work.

Using Evernote

I rate my likelihood of renewing my use of Evernote at a 9 because the program will remain a key component in orchestrating my organization's long-term plans. But, if Mozilla Firefox designs a better web clipper or Google Chrome solves its memory problems, then I'll change my rating to a 10.

Evernote Training

Yes, the product was easy to learn without training. I would recommend this approach to anyone with proficient computer skills.
