Overall Satisfaction with FileZilla

We use the client for most FTP, FTP and SFTP connections to internal and external servers. The client version is used across the organization fro these needs. We also use the server version to transfer files to and from our web servers. The server version is implemented and managed solely by the IT department.
  • Easy to use
  • Cost is a huge plus!
  • Meets security requirements.
  • I'd like to see the server handle SFTP in addtion to FTP and FTP/S. We run into this need now and again and have to use another product for SFTP hosting.
  • Due to the low (or no) cost of acquisition, filezilla is always our first choice.
  • It also saves on training costs and time as it is easy for end users to grasp and use.
We also use GoAnywhere for FTP from our IBMi platform and we also host an instance of GoAnywhere on Windows. We use SFTP in both of these instances, so a server platform that can handle that protocol is a requirement. Unfortunately, Filezilla can't be used in this instance. If it had the required SFT support, we'd abandon the Windows instance of GoAnywhere to avoid paying the annual support costs.
I'm giving this a neutral 5 because we have never actually had to contact them for support of any kind.

Yes

Did FileZilla live up to sales and marketing promises?

Yes

Did implementation of FileZilla go as expected?

Yes

Would you buy FileZilla again?

Yes

The cost and quality combination is a sure win for implementations where you need a easy to use graphical FTP client or server. Both client and server are easy to implement and use. They both fulfill the primary goal of a full featured client and server admirably. The only reason we use any other product is when SFTP is required server side.
