Overall Satisfaction with Glip

Across the whole company we use a Glip competitor but Glip is being used in a project for a client, the client itself asked us to use Glip instead of the program we use for other projects.

For our clients, and ultimately for us, Glip provides a good service at a lower price tag, compared to similar products.
  • Ease of use: It is extremely easy to use Glip and its features.
  • Ease of adoption: You can start using Glip in a couple of minutes and scale its use to the whole team, no hassle.
  • Scalability: This products scales well both in users and in pricing.
  • Integrations with other products: Glip has some integrations but not all you would like. There are a dozen or more apps you can use the product with, but your team might have the need to connect the app with another popular product or service that Glip still does not have (Confluence, for example).
  • Can't create bots or custom integrations (?): As far as I know, you cannot create bots or custom integrations with other apps.
  • Performance: Looks a bit slow to start for the first time, the app will load slower than other apps. Not sure if this is because I work on a large team or anything else, but the feeling that Glip loads slower than anything else makes me think that the app's performance has some room for improvement.
  • Less money to be paid for the same service.
Between Slack, HipChat and GLip, Slack comes with both the higher degree of customization and integrations and the higher price tag. HipChat comes last with the smallest set of features. Glip is right in the middle with a decent amount of features at a lower price.

I like Slack the most for its features, but for a team needing just the basics, Glip is a great option.
Glip is great for teams needing real-time communications, no matter if chat or voice, at a reasonable price. [It] Might not be suitable for teams needing lots of integrations or custom hooks and actions.

Glip (discontinued) Feature Ratings

Using Glip

100 - Communications between engineers and engineering teams.
Mid-level engineers but we have no one in-house supporting glip
  • Discussing technical information
  • Sharing information across the organization
  • Sharing memes (?)
Very likely we will renew unless the closest competitor lowers its price tiers.

Evaluating Glip and Competitors

  • Price
We just needed basic communications at a good price for a medium-large team. Slack offers the former but not the latter. We replaced it with Glip for its lower price.
Would not change a thing, the comparison was just a matter of features offered vs. features needed over price.

Using Glip

Mobile UI is not as pleasant as others, it looks washed out and that makes it seem like it lacks some features.

Yes - Good enough, it has the basics and works well enough, but I prefer the web version of it.

Integrating Glip

Was easy enough to integrate with one of the services we needed. Haven't tried any other service.
  • Google Drive
Not much of a problem integrating Glip with Google Drive, just a couple of clicks and it was done. We have not needed any other integration so far.
  • Confluence
They don't offer an official integration or a custom integration procedure.
To users: Use what you got and use as much as you can from integrations. If you need complex actions such as hooks, bots adn the like, look elsewhere.
To Glip: add a way to include custom integrations or an easier to find guide on the matter.
