Overall Satisfaction with Google Chat

It provides our organization with the ability to quickly and efficiently communicate and collaborate in a remote work environment. We use it to share best practices, to quickly provide peers within our specific workgroups with quick answers to complex questions, and to partner with each other in a consultation manner to provide a better customer experience. All of our departments (from eCommerce to B2B to B&M Sales) use it across departmental lines and sometimes within specific groups.
  • Create internal/operational efficiencies.
  • Enhance decision making.
  • Improve business process agility.
  • Improve customer relations/service.
  • Text boxes have an aggravating way of resizing itself.
  • Inability to dock the conversation list.
  • Conversations can jump around quite often.
  • Searching for specific instances or keywords sometimes is not efficient.
  • Free flow of ideas which can be both positive and negative.
  • Quick answers to complex questions.
  • Fosters a spirit of collaboration in mid to large sized organizations.
  • Can sometimes twist off into topics that take away from productivity.
Our organization uses the entire Google Suite of products, so the integration with Google Drive and especially Gmail made this decision a "no brainer". In canvassing most of our employees, many of them had more experience using this product as opposed to Skype, and the feedback was overwhelmingly positive.

Do you think Google Chat delivers good value for the price?

Yes

Are you happy with Google Chat's feature set?

Yes

Did Google Chat live up to sales and marketing promises?

Yes

Did implementation of Google Chat go as expected?

Yes

Would you buy Google Chat again?

Yes

Well suited for businesses of all sizes. HOWEVER, I would say keep the chat groups limited at the departmental level, ensure that your moderator or the individual responsible for the group keeps it on topic, and have your IT team monitor it from time to time. Google Chat gets used so much in our organization that we have rules and regs in our Employee Handbook regarding its proper use (and when used PROPERLY, it can be very effective).
