Overall Satisfaction with Google Compute Engine
For hybrid cloud solution we decided to use the separated cloud provider as a DR (pilot light model) in our project. Compute Engine was created in one Region with general purpose machine family. The project requirements were set - one of the first priorities - cloud provider independence.
- Project base access.
- Well tested DR scenario.
- Competitive overall prices.
- Less flexible machine type selection.
- Sometimes non-intuitive interface.
- Limited network configuration.
- The best price/performance factor in cloud providers (AWS, Azure, GCP).
- Anticipated costs.
- Time to market - due to reused scenario.
The best GCP products - GKE for containerization workload fit to the VM machines specified for different application type (monolithic). These services can be easily integrated with each other with additional benefits.
