Overall Satisfaction with Google Drive
I have been using Google Drive for the sole purpose of uploading my work automatically to cloud and save it. With the new version of their windows desktop app, about 3 months ago, things started going wrong. The app started downloading all my files from the cloud to my desktop and messing up with my folder structures. As this is something that I do not want, I stopped syncing and contacted the Google One support. It has been more than 90 days and over the same ticket, support has not been able to do anything with my problem. It is not possible to revert the changes so hundreds of files that I do not want on my desktop are there. I have to spend a couple of hours to eliminate these files from my desktop. But the main problem is even I turn of "downloading" option on the app, it still downloads files and therefore I cannot sync anything. All my work is waiting to be uploaded to cloud for 90 days and I risk loosing the book that I am writing, the research I am doing and the video media I am producing. A cranky and buggy app and a support service which is not capable of solving issues in my experience. Avoid this service.

- Think about User Experience. When I switched to the new version of the app, I was asked some questions. I do not remember what they are, but clearly I do not want my cloud files to be downloaded automatically to my machine. Who wants that?!? Think about it? I want to save space so that's why I keep those files on the cloud only. But the app started downloading all of them.
- Simplify Support so the same person(s) continue responding. Every reply of mine is responded by a different support person ( I guess, since I cannot see any name signatures) and they are completely lost about what is going on, or give generic answers. Really frustrating
- Fix your app. It still downloads even I turn off the download checkbox. Do you want to drive me crazy, Google Drive?

- I cannot use this service for my laptop device for more than 3 months, while I am paying for the services.
- Bad support service is just distracting me from the real work I should be doing. Wasting my time.
- The fact that my files are not being synced is making me uneasy and I am concerned about if I have proper backups for my work.
I had similar problems with Dropbox, that's why I switched to Google Drive. But when I think about my recent experience, I see that the Dropbox experience was not so bad. They were at least able to revert the changes and their app, although has problems, was not as ridiculous as Google Drive app is in my opinion. At least if I unchecked the "download" tick-box on Dropbox app, it stops downloading.
