Overall Satisfaction with GoTo Meeting

We work with clients under highly confidential circumstances and need a safe way to communicate with our clients, as well as with other team members in regional offices. GoTo Meeting was our go-to option (haha) for video conferencing for years, used for weekly team check-ins (video meetings) as well as community consultations (generally audio-only and using phone call-ins). We recently switched to Zoom due to a security breach.
  • Easy to connect, no account required to join
  • Call-in option is useful for contacting people without internet access
  • End To End Encryption
  • Clunky Interface - feels old and unintuitive
  • Expensive - no free tier anymore
  • Creepy - shares your data with third parties
  • The security was breached on one of our calls so we had to swap to a different meeting provider; an expensive and laborious process
  • Has historically been an easy way to connect with clients who don't have internet
  • A good option for group calls with people who don't have particular software or aren't very tech-savvy
We actually switched from [GoTo Meeting] to Zoom following a breach where an uninvited user showed up multiple times in one of our meetings. In the end, it turned out to be a worthwhile switch and we now pay less for more features. Don't love Zoom either, to be honest, and we're currently trying to use the open-source alternative Jitsi whenever possible.

Do you think GoTo Meeting delivers good value for the price?

No

Are you happy with GoTo Meeting's feature set?

No

Did GoTo Meeting live up to sales and marketing promises?

I wasn't involved with the selection/purchase process

Did implementation of GoTo Meeting go as expected?

Yes

Would you buy GoTo Meeting again?

No

GoTo Meeting is a fine choice for business meetings, but not sure why anyone would choose it over Zoom or one of the other more modern alternatives. The quality of the call is fine but not great, the features are relatively limited (no ability to blur backgrounds, for example), and the level of security is about average but the fact that they share your data with third parties isn't a great look for something that's claiming to be "secure." If I'm not mistaken GoTo Meeting is owned by the same hedge fund that bought LastPass, which is all just a little weird and discomfiting for folks [who] need privacy and security on their work calls.
