Overall Satisfaction with Heap

We use Heap to back up front-end analytics data. Today we don't have time to do deep behavioral analytics, but down the line, I am confident that we'll want to start collecting and analyzing this data. By installing Heap, we can be confident that when we are ready to analyze this data, we have a base to start from, and at least we have indicators as to how we want to start our analytics strategy (versus starting with no data).
  • Automatically capturing event data
  • Backing up event data
  • Analyzing front-end event data
  • Better onboarding
  • More transparent/consistent manual tagging system
  • Reconciling multiple similar selectors
  • Increased customer satisfaction
  • Enabling product direction questions
  • Retroactively investigating issues
Sometimes, Heap has issues reconciling similar selectors, and I have not found the manual tagging system to be the most intuitive, especially when best practices are not used when designing the front-end infrastructure. Even so, it helps that the data is unmodified, and all analytics are done through an interfaced layer, so damage and confusion [are] not permanent.
I haven't noticed pages loading significantly slower since I installed Heap.
Heap's implementation is by far the easiest across the different analytics products I've used. The only downside is that the analysis part is a bit more confusing to set up, and sometimes the confidence of the auto track is a bit shaky, although, these issues can usually be reconciled down the line as the raw data is solid.

Do you think Heap delivers good value for the price?

No

Are you happy with Heap's feature set?

Yes

Did Heap live up to sales and marketing promises?

Yes

Did implementation of Heap go as expected?

Yes

Would you buy Heap again?

Yes

Heap is great if you are unsure where to start or don't have the resources to invest [in] a bigger analytics plan. If you have an analytics team or have specific things you want to track, Heap still works well but is often overkill and you might be confused by the number of extra features. Even if you have a solid analytics plan today, Heap is still useful to back up your front-end data, in case you forgot to track something.
