Overall Satisfaction with Hootsuite

We use Hootsuite in our Digital Communications Analytics class every semester to assist students in their preparation for the working world. Students often asked for more insights and education in the tools used by today's brands and agencies to measure success. By providing Hootsuite in the classroom, we give our students a better chance at success right now and in the future.
  • Easy to get started
  • Training videos that are not hard to understand
  • Industry-leading platform
  • Sometimes the dashboard can "lag" behind
  • Does not always show posts in specific sections, like mentions
  • Layout can be an issue at times
  • Great certification program for students, leading to more robust analytics class
  • The Hootsuite brand name/reputation allows our school to highlight the importance of early analytics education
  • Led to the launch of a new online focus in analytics and marketing in our school
Hootsuite is excellent when your organization pays for the complete volume of tools. The free or even student program tools are good, but do not provide the full scope of a campaign or postings. I don’t expect to get more for free, especially in today’s social media analytics world. However, giving a little bit more as social channels change algorithms would be helpful.
Hootsuite has provided an excellent roadmap for students to better understand how to strategize scheduled content. Using Hootsuite’s Platform Education, it shows even experienced users the best practices used by today’s leading brands and organizations. I’ve seen my students take what they’ve learned one week and apply it to the work at an internship or work study.
We actually use Hootsuite's classroom program along with Meltwater and Google Analytics. By selecting Hootsuite in concert with either Meltwater or Brandwatch, and (at times) Facebook Insights, students can get the real-world feeling of how brands and businesses choose the tools needed to monitor, listen, and communicate with its stakeholders. Having certification from Hootsuite also is a wonderful "feather" in the cap for a student, graduate or undergraduate, on their resume and LinkedIn profile.

Do you think Hootsuite delivers good value for the price?

Yes

Are you happy with Hootsuite's feature set?

Yes

Did Hootsuite live up to sales and marketing promises?

Yes

Did implementation of Hootsuite go as expected?

Yes

Would you buy Hootsuite again?

No

Hootsuite works really well in the classroom setting. Even though I've used it often outside the classroom, I find it more effective in the classroom. Students get an idea what they can look for with clients or brands. Outside the classroom, I do not use the dashboard as often. Instead I opt for Twitter's webpage or it's app.

Hootsuite ROI and Support

As stated in other responses, implementing the program in the classroom is a key factor in student success. Without it, the course would not be as vibrant or beneficial for tomorrow’s pros. By taking facets of the In the Classroom program and applying it to practical events, we see a well-rounded student.
It continues to provide my students with opportunities to grow their skill set. We are the only program in the DMV using Hootsuite’s In the Classroom educational tools. Our students’ feedback have been overwhelmingly positive, even from those who already use it in their internships and jobs. These tools reinforce knowledge and build out new ideas.

Using Hootsuite

10 - Hootsuite is used for classroom training, midterm and final projects, as well as for monthly Twitter chats during the semester. We also use Hootsuite as a way to enhance our own knowledge in the expanding world of social and digital media. For example, taking a conversation stream from Hootsuite can be very effective to highlight an ongoing conversation.
We use Hootsuite in my university classroom to show students the best way to use it and similar monitoring tools. People should have a working knowledge of social media and how it is applied by a company. While it could be used for personal postings, it’s more effective for brands.
  • Education
  • Applying case studies
  • Better grasp of new functions
  • Providing student with skill set to stand out.
  • Drives interest in our programs.
  • Allows tomorrow’s pros to be certified.
  • Recruitment
  • Understanding today’s higher ed landscape
  • Sharing knowledge with other communication students
Hootsuite has been a factor in my classroom for five years and each time our students come away with valuable skills. The program Hootsuite provides in one of a few with the ability to access parts of the platform you would normally pay a hefty sum. Instead, students gain a strong foothold in social media management and strategy because of the program.
