Overall Satisfaction with Hoover's (Legacy)

Hoover's was used by the marketing and business development team at the firm - attorneys would use it sparingly but for the most part our division would use the product and pass along information to the attorneys. When preparing biz dev pitches we would use Hoover's to get as much info as possible on the target companies.

  • Quick background research formulation - one stop shopping for a lot of good info
  • Helped provide important details to attorneys that they didn't have otherwise
CapitalIQ was better for bios and company financials. However purely from the standpoint of finding out what a company does as its core competency, where there offices are located and other key company information I preferred Hoover's. Hoover's had solid info on bios and financials but just not as accurate as CapIQ in my experience.
Mentioned before but we would put together company background packets for attorneys that gave them everything they could ever want to know about a biz dev target - if they wanted key people we had it, key financials, we had it...or just general company information about what a company does or what subsidiaries they own.
Hoover's was great when we wanted detailed company descriptions on what they do, how much revenue they generate, where their offices are located. I preferred to use other tools when looking up company bios - Linkedin was a better resource with much more up to date information which is key when looking for contact info.
