Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We are currently using it as part of product development.

Pros and Cons

Easy to provision
Credentials easy to access
Easy to scale

Credential management difficult
No 'admin' access to database system services. Not sure how to get/change admin features of databases
Reporting is unclear. It is hard to determine when/where I was running out of resources and getting database connection refused reasons

Return on Investment

It is easy to try different types of IBM/Compose DBs.
Easy to shut down/remove DB to save money on fees.
Not great on doing a comparison of IBM Cloud Databases to hosting a separate DB instance.

Alternatives Considered

We are still evaluating the differences between IBM Cloud Databases and AWS Postgres instances.

Other Software Used

Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS), IBM Cloud Kubernetes Service, Google Kubernetes Engine

Likelihood to Recommend

Well suited for development, but hesitant to use it for products as there is not enough visibility.
