Overall Satisfaction with IBM Cloud Databases (formerly Compose)

We are currently using it as part of product development.
  • Easy to provision
  • Credentials easy to access
  • Easy to scale
  • Credential management difficult
  • No 'admin' access to database system services. Not sure how to get/change admin features of databases
  • Reporting is unclear. It is hard to determine when/where I was running out of resources and getting database connection refused reasons
  • It is easy to try different types of IBM/Compose DBs.
  • Easy to shut down/remove DB to save money on fees.
  • Not great on doing a comparison of IBM Cloud Databases to hosting a separate DB instance.
We are still evaluating the differences between IBM Cloud Databases and AWS Postgres instances.
Well suited for development, but hesitant to use it for products as there is not enough visibility.
