Overall Satisfaction with IBM Cloud Object Storage

We use IBM Cloud Object Storage both for our internal processes and services we provide. It is used to store and exchange file based assets such as documents, images, audios and videos. It is very efficient at transferring files via its additional integration with CDN, Aspera, and is highly available with different storage setup choices.
  • High availability and different storage options (warm, cold, etc...)
  • Integration with Aspera and CDN
  • Security
  • Compatible with Amazon S3 API
  • Default web interface is slow
  • Documentation is a bit unstructured, but is getting better
  • Single solution that solves all of our cloud storage needs at an affordable price
  • Reduce number of vendors required as IBM is one stop shop
We are yet to take advantage of this feature. However, we have plans to use this feature along with its Watson offerings for deep learning use cases.
Aspera really takes IBM Cloud Object Storage to a new level, as it allows the transfer of large files quickly. Our marketing team no longer need to wait for hours to upload and download large multimedia assets, and operations team can perform backups much faster by leveraging Aspera.
This tier based offering makes IBM Cloud Object Storage very cost effective. We can have a standby and backup storage setup without having to pay the high price of an active tier storage used for production.
We initially considered Amazon S3, but given many of our systems are running on IBM Cloud, we looked for an IBM based offering. IBM Cloud Object Storage is very similar and compatible with Amazon S3, so it fits all of our needs, and integrates nicely with the rest of IBM Cloud offerings.
  • IBM Cloud Foundry
  • IBM Aspera on Cloud
We use IBM Cloud Foundry as the application runtime for our systems, which then will save and retrieve data stored in IBM Cloud Object Storage. IBM Aspera is used for transferring large files.
IBM Cloud Object Storage is a very good solution for storing data in the cloud, especially if you are already using other IBM Cloud offerings. It has feature parity with Amazon S3 and is compatible with its APIs, making migrations from one to another easy. Its native integration with Aspera makes transferring large files (several gigabytes or more) fast and efficient.
