Overall Satisfaction with IBM Cognos
We are using IBM Cognos as the reporting tool for the Workbrain Time and Attendance solution at WB.
Cognos integrates with workbrain and serves as the reporting engine for the system.
It is currently used by the several departments within WB, but planned to be rolled out to all the departments.

- It is fairly easy to create reports using Cognos.
- It integrates well with other applications.
- It maintains its own DB schema.
- It could be hard to understand and navigate through for a novice. (not very intuitive)
- It is sensitive to changes in the hosting environment (java change on the host may cause for the need to re-configure Cognos for example)
- The error messages are not very descriptive or helpful. You might see errors such as: "The server did something wrong..." or "the client did something wrong"
- Cognos had no direct impact in itself but as part of the Time and Attendance solution it was well received in the organization
Cognos solution came bundled with the Workbrain solution that WB purchased and implemented. There was no choice of selecting a different solution.
