Overall Satisfaction with IBM Cognos

CTA utilizes IBM Cognos for payroll and human resources reporting. We complete a lot of custom reports for internal and external use as well as government reporting.

Pros

  • The tables in Cognos are easy to navigate.
  • IBM allows for robust reporting in an very user friendly format.
  • Setting up dashboards in Cognos is easy and this makes it easy to provide reports for other users.
  • Setting up schedules for reporting is easy and saves the company time and money.

Cons

  • I find IBM Cognos very easy to use so I cannot truly think of improvements that are needed.
Crystal Reports does not seem to be as user friendly as IBM Cognos.
Ease of merging data and real time access. Great for up-to-date reporting.
Sharing reports is made easy through IBM Cognos. Report writers have the capability to define the functionality of each report along with the security.
If you are not completing robust reports, you may not need IBM Cognos. The functionality in IBM Cognos makes creating user friendly, easy to do reports that are very robust.
