Overall Satisfaction with IBM FlashSystem 7200

The V7000 was the first storage we used on OnCloud and it was an essential part of the growth of the company.
When it was acquired it gave us the power and storage we needed, it had good performance and sufficient size.

  • Price.
  • Scalability.
  • Complex to manage.
  • Complex to deploy.
  • Is expensive at the capex.
  • Is expensive at the Opex.
  • Is very reliable.
For medium-sized organizations it is a good option, especially due to its reliability and its performance in normal workloads for these companies, even for high workloads.
The performance of this storage gives the power to run modern applications and traditional workloads such as databases as well as NON-SQL.
The reliability of this equipment allows the systems and storage department to concentrate on the development of the objectives of the organizations.
If you like the world of IBM and are used to working with them this storage works well. But it is expensive, difficult to implement and maintain. Growth is a headache and you depend on IBM and its Partners for everything.

Using IBM FlashSystem 7200

Within the offer that OnCloud makes is to have good performance throughout the environment regardless of whether it is productive or not, for which the IBM 7200 performs very well.

The IBM 7200 does not demand a lot of administration or support, but since we are a service company that works with the highest levels of quality and service delivery, we always have an engineer on-site with the necessary skills to monitor, correct and solve problems. that the team usually gives.

In the case of this team, the skills do not have to be very sophisticated and we like that a lot.

The results we have obtained are much better than expected, the amount of IOPS are good but the latency is very good, although it is not the best for databases and sequential writing, the team meets and exceeds expectations for secondary storage. , I am convinced that for small and medium-sized organizations it can be a great alternative considering the cost per TB, the ease of implementation, the ease of use and the support.
