Overall Satisfaction with IBM Power

  • Up time
  • Speed
  • Easily Patch updates.
  • Easy OS upgrades.
  • Security
  • I would like IBM Power Systems to make the GUI better. I like the GUI but it is still missing certain aspects.

Yes

Did implementation of IBM Power servers go as expected?

Yes

Would you buy IBM Power servers again?

Yes

  • The price to upgrade every 3 years is cheaper than keeping the system we had.
Uptime and security are the main reasons.

Using IBM Power

500 - Transportation all over the United States. We use OmniTRAX to communicate with the trucks and trailers. We have over 500 users that log in to the system on a daily basis all over the United States. I am testing Help systems products at this company due to using them at a previous company.
10 - This system is very easy to learn. The commands are easy to remember and they have a lot of help by pressing F4 on the command. The main software that we use in the system is a third-party application but with all the changes our programmers have completed no way we can update the application.
  • Ease of use
  • Up time
  • Backups
  • Updating the third party application like we have.
  • Running the whole company on the Power 9.
  • And Security of the system.
  • Use more on the web.
  • Change the way we use file shares.
This is one of the best systems on the market. You can have Flash/Copy which created another LPAR to look like the system you are copying. This takes seconds and not minutes. Then you can use BRNS to do full system backups nightly with no downtime. I am ready for us to upgrade to a Power 10.
