Overall Satisfaction with IntelliMagic Vision for SAN

Used by SAN and storage team. IntelliMagic Vision for SAN gathers performance metrics for both SAN and storage, and this allows reporting and performance monitoring and trending.
  • Performance metrics for multiple vendors and equipment models
  • Stability and reliability of the system
  • Ease of report creation
  • Additional reports needed for IBM SVC replication monitoring
  • Additional new equipment not yet monitored
  • Automated report generation and distribution is not easy to implement
  • Trending and projections into the future are needed
  • IBM SVC performance gathering
  • Brocade SAN performance gathering
  • Ease and speed of reporting to help diagnose issues
  • Eliminated multiple reporting sources and consolidated to one
I used BMC Patrol long ago, and native tools from Brocade Network Advisor.

IntelliMagic Vision for SAN is much easier to implement than Patrol, and it's all-inclusive for everything--SAN, storage, SVC--so one source for all reporting.

Do you think IntelliMagic Vision for SAN delivers good value for the price?

Yes

Are you happy with IntelliMagic Vision for SAN's feature set?

Yes

Did IntelliMagic Vision for SAN live up to sales and marketing promises?

Yes

Did implementation of IntelliMagic Vision for SAN go as expected?

Yes

Would you buy IntelliMagic Vision for SAN again?

Yes

Performance metric gathering for storage units, SVC virtualization layer, and Brocade SAN switches/directors are rock solid. Built-in reports cover the most-used scenarios, and the report creation has been improved to let you build the custom reports not already covered.

Evaluating IntelliMagic Vision for SAN and Competitors

Yes - IBM TPC (aka Tivoli Storage Productivity Center). TPC required a lot of care and feeding, including never-ending support cases with IBM to fix basic functionality and stability issues. We used it for years simply because it was the primary source for SVC performance details.

Intellimagic needs little ongoing maintenance and provides the same (if not better) in-depth performance metric details we need for IBM SVC reporting and diagnostics.

Would not change. We compared TPC with Intellimagic and Intellimagic did (and still does) come out much better with more features and ease of maintenance
