Overall Satisfaction with InVision Freehand

I use Freehand mainly for 2 user cases:
  1. Collaborating on Sketch of user interface design.
  2. Publishing screens from Sketch to Freehand, and discussing with other designers, clients, and stakeholders.
During the covid remote working period, we used it more.
  • The UI wireframe are very 'sketchy', which focuses the discussion on content/interaction but not visual.
  • User can leave comments. (It's a great new feature.)
  • Easy to use, a lot of templates.
  • Stability. I encounter some bugs which make data unsaved. Fortunately the 'version history' helped me out.
  • Is it possible to add hotspot to make the UI clickable in Freehand?
  • Cannot rotate picture, it's quite annoying.
  • Increase the collaboration between designers, product team and engineering team.
  • MURAL (formerly Mural.ly)
Freehand is more a tool for design/ideation, whereas Mural is more a tool for workshop collaboration. Freehand benefits from its integration with other InVision tools and Sketch.

Do you think Freehand by InVision delivers good value for the price?

Sketch, MURAL (formerly Mural.ly), Axure RP
Well suited: to run a collaborating design session, ideation session, or collecting people's feedback.
Less appropriate: whiteboard collaboration on workshop. (Mural/Miro is more popular in my organization for that purpose.)
