Overall Satisfaction with Jama Connect

We use Jama Connect for Product, System, and Design Requirements Management and Traceability throughout the whole company and across sites. We connect to JiraCloud where our work and testing is done via TIH.
  • "Related to" and relationships is very strong.
  • Reviews are very well structured.
  • Reviews show outline numbering and NOT the actual requirement number.
  • Roles/permissions are confusing.
  • Requirements and traceability are clear.
  • The tool is expensive compared to Jira/Confluence for a small company.
We did our best to find a different tool, from Atlassian marketplace, and failed. In the end we paid annual fee for Jama Connect and Tasktop TIH together at the minimum level. The overall cost of Jira/Confluence/Jama/Tasktop is a lot for a small company to handle each year, especially without a dedicated administrator.
We tried to do with Requirements management with Confluence and other Atlassian marketplace tools. The Jama traceability is still the overriding decider for staying with Jama. FYI, we paid for Jama/tasktop for several years without doing the integration - you would think that Jama would have pushed us to get this done or remove the charge.
We really like Jama Reviews for teams and Baselines for requirements. Traceability is well-structured although it has no flexibility with the relationships between types. It is very easy to drag and drop to rearrange the product requirements. I don't like the export capability or reporting. There is a lot of work to do to get the metrics we need from Jama Connect in Excel.
