Overall Satisfaction with Kofax Power PDF (formerly Nuance)
The majority of our computers have Nuance. Since we process timecards (we do healthcare staffing), we need to utilize this tool considering the type of pictures we get sent over via text or email. Our payroll team from time to time will use it to convert PDF to Excel or Word.
- Many one click button options (such as Excel/Word)
- The accessibility with signatures and adding date/initials.
- Being able to extract page/s from documents and save them.
- For newbies, still a bit of a challenge to edit documents.
- Some users complain that the load up of the PDF (even 1 page) can be slow. I believe it is more of an issue with the computer.
- Adding more of the View/Edit features on the left hand column bar for quick clicks.
- Positive: Time savings.
- Negative: The time it takes to moves a license from one computer to a new computer that an employee just received.
My experience was to help with converting timecards from images to PDF, along with taking in-house marketing material and being able to change information based on the given year. We also early on would use it for signing/date/initials.
Small sample size here, but this was the free download but users were not able to use the full features. Our manager had used Nuance before and recommended it over the paid DC version.

Being able to insert and extract pages so easily has been the biggest time saver for our payroll team. Cannot put a price on those features. Also being able to one-click to Word has been a nice time saver as well.
Using Kofax Power PDF (formerly Nuance)
13 - Utilizing PDF to its fullest. Modifying as needing and being able to open as Word or Excel. All big features. Depends on the department and what their needs are. Some use it for standard viewing and others will use it for more of the features. I tend to use it for the features.
2 - There is me and another employee who utilize the majority of the features. So we help as needed and train as needed. Since many use the basic features, their training is minimal on the program. But for some (especially the signing features), we will walk the employee through several times until they are comfortable using it.
- Signature features
- being able to modify a document such as removing our logo as needed with ease
- being able to convert to word or excel as needed as many documents need to covert this way
- We utilize a parsing service to get data off certain PDFs that come over
- We use the signature feature more and more as many of our clinicians have to sign within about 5-10 min of acceptance
- Looking at the possibility of building it into our CRM if possible
- Treating it as our primary source of signatures
