Overall Satisfaction with Kofax Power PDF (formerly Nuance)

Originally used to create spreadsheets from complex laboratory reports that were in PDF format. The spreadsheets were then used to organize data.

Since then it has found a place in my heart for managing a variety of PDF documents for various purposes...all with great ease. It simply does all that I want to do.

  • A small lag in opening complex PDF files.
  • More mark-up tools.
  • Built in suggestions for PDF creation.
  • Ease of use.
  • Increase in productivity.
  • Better end product for clients.
Right "out of the box" I began to use the software without resorting to the Help features. The process was intuitive and knowledge gain was rapid. In addition, the controls are self-explanatory and well designed to make use of the software not only a productive exercise but an enjoyable one as well.
Ease of use and consistency of quality. There were no confusing user scenarios and one always knows (with Kofax) the direction one is headed in and the path to the successful completion of a specific task. There are no complex proprietary procedures that require additional purchases or time consuming down-loads in order to proceed.
The support that I received for other Nuance products was exceptional and the process for acquiring the Kofax product was supposed very professionally and in a straight forward manner. The is not a "sale and see ya" type of organization because the purchase of the product(s) is only the initial step in what will be a long-term relationship.

The data transformation ability was most impressive and changed a tedious task into a efficient data processing process There were no errors in the OCR function and the process from PDF to spreadsheet was easy to understand and undertake. This product removes the boundaries between different data formats and allows the user the freedom that arises from removal of restrictions.
Transforming data from a less friendly format into one that makes it easy to sort and/or manipulate the data for a specific purpose.

In my case that was checking PDF laboratory reports for errors and extracting data for pattern recognition for use in a court case where the original laboratory reports were not available for review.
