Overall Satisfaction with Kofax Power PDF (formerly Nuance Power PDF)

We originally purchased Kofax Advanced Power PDF to handle Bates Numbering of PDF document for litigation about 6 years ago. It was a cost effective alternative to Adobe.
  • Bates numbering.
  • Signature placement on PDF documents.
  • Converting Word to PDF documents.
  • Optimizing size of PDF files.
  • It is slow on the start up, wish it would be a faster load time.
  • At times it does not handle memory well and will crash on large documents during bates numbering. Any project over 200 pages has to be broken up into batches.
  • It does not handle the insertion of image files into PDFs well. Very difficult to add and resize image to fit on PDF.
  • It was a significant savings compared to Adobe.
  • It makes bates numbering of documents extremely efficient.
  • It saves time by allowing signatures to be added to documents instead of having to print sign and rescan.
It is very easy to use. It processes documents for bates numbering efficiently and allows for detailed sequences to be used in multiple positions on a document for the numbering. It does a great job in optimizing the file size of larger files. It does a decent job of OCR on documents to convert them to Word documents for further editing.
Dollar for dollar, Power PDF is more cost effective than Adobe for our firm.
Only had to contact support once in 6 years. The experience was satisfactory. I cannot recall the specific issue, but the support representative was able to assist us in resolving it.

The most valuable feature to our firm has been the bates numbering feature. It has streamlined our process and allowed for a substantial time savings over prior systems.
It works very well in providing bates numbering of documents. It also works well for conversion of Word documents and other files to PDF as it provides a well optimized file at the end of the process. It also does an excellent job of allowing you to add signatures to PDF documents.
