Overall Satisfaction with Lieberman RED

ERPM (Formally named) is used for password management of generic account and accounts with elevated privileges. It solves the problem of keeping the account passwords walking out the door when an employee leaves. Also if the account is compromised it has a very limited time of use. It is being used enterprise-wide for directory based accounts. Not local accounts. Other products are being used to manage local accounts.
  • Manage local accounts of workstations and servers.
  • The web interface is easy for users of RED to use.
  • The shared password list is a very nice feature that allows users to store credentials that have to remain static.
  • Most settings are global. You cannot assign different checkout time lengths to separate accounts as an example.
  • The install process is awful.
  • There is no redundancy built into the product
  • The entire RED system has to be down for patching/upgrades.
  • Positive = General and admin accounts have randomized passwords that users check out.
  • Positive = Logs for who is using what
  • Negative = Large overhead for managing RED
CyberARK is superior in every way. Lieberman RED was selected by upper management without consulting with technical employees.
It is very well suited to manage local passwords on machines.

It fails at managing accounts located in the directory. It treats a directory as a "system" as a result of your settings for the "system" ends up being global. It makes for a very complicated rights structure. Rights have to be assigned on a per accounts basis.
