Overall Satisfaction with Lifesize Video Conferencing

Lifesize is being used primarily for teaching and big team meetings, but gradually is being adopted across the whole organization. For us, it helps us to deliver teaching to other campuses cost efficiently. Classes with less than a certain number are not viable. By using Lifesize, less classes get canceled because only one lecturer is required to stream the content and have real time interaction with students in other states/campuses.
  • User friendly. We have used other video conferencing solutions for team meetings and one to one calls and users end up very frustrated because a lot of steps are required to have a call going.
  • Recording. Being able to record the video conference, and then share, edit, view statistics, is a very useful tool. Teaching using video conference technology changes the way the lecturer has to deliver the content, and having a recording really helps for continued improvement.
  • Guest are able to join without installing any software. It is a very convenient feature. It expanded video conferencing as never before. The possibilities to communicate are almost limitless!
  • As an admin it would be great to see who is using the VMR. For example, User 1, User 2, User 3 are using VMR A. user 4, User 5, User 6 are using VMR B.
  • Able to lock who joins a VMR for certain period of time or while a meeting is going on. It is a frequent issue that some guest users jump to a VMR in the middle of a meeting by mistake. If you think about a real meeting room, well you can lock the door, put a sign on the door or when someone wants to get in as it gets closer they can hear the room is busy.
  • Auto dial by schedule. We have a meeting every Tuesday at the same time, the same equipment, same participants. It would be great if the system can auto join to a VMR at certain time.
  • Full screen enable as a call starts up. Having an option to automatically go full screen when placing a call.
  • Having a separate window for a presentation is FANTASTIC! It saved us the use of another computer for only that purpose. However, when another user starts presenting, the presentation window goes black. So it has to be closed (to go back to the share environment - video and presentation) and then separate them again. It would be better if that separate presentation window can pick up the change of presenter automatically.
  • Real time call quality. With Icon 600 I can see real time packet loss, bandwidth, Jitter, etc. Having real time information of a call as an admin would help to nail down issues like, is a bandwidth problem? Is it a specific user problem? Is it a site related problem? Some data to justify and support what by eye seems to be the problem. I understand is a very complex technology, but some data would help to improve the environment and make a full use of the Lifesize solution.
Appropriate: group meetings, board meetings, one to one video call. Having users with limited technical knowledge (no tech savvy).

Using Lifesize Video Conferencing

  • Running video conference for a prolonged period of time.
  • Recording an interaction and share it.
  • Blends (integrates) with existing technology very easily. (laptops, tablets, pcs, etc.) The hybrid approach is one of the greatest qualities of this solution.
  • Being able to trial the hardware for 30 days was THE BEST part. Being able to use it from day 1. Other users were able to see it and try it. It was a perfect strategy to showcase the solution and get users to buy into the product.
