Overall Satisfaction with LogicMonitor

LogicMonitor addressed our needs to replace SolarWinds. We were looking for a new product that still gave us great management features, but also allowed us to better manage and monitor our edge switches. We limit the use of the product to our engineer team which is small, less than 5. The NOC dashboards features have been a great add for our team.
  • Very detailed with scan settings, easy to setup.
  • No agent required to monitor devices.
  • Network load is minimal based on traffic it sends for monitoring.
  • Alerting can be cumbersome to setup at first.
  • Recommend startup services with purchase, expensive but good.
  • Cost per device can add up.
  • ROI will add up as the alerting is excellent.
  • Expensive up front cost, even for EDUCATION.
  • Team pays more attention to alerts as they come in.
We reviewed a couple of products before making the decision to go with LogicMonitor. ManageEngine had a solid product but lacked the cloud feature. Overall the cost was less, but it would be expensive to maintain server hardware. Support was lacking as you do not get great support during trial. We considered Red Hat as well but they did not seem to want our business.
The sales team support we received was top notch. They worked hand in hand to make sure the product met all expectations. So far we have not really had to work with support that much; we have worked with setup team after purchase to deploy product fully. No issues so far and we are four weeks in.
So far we have not retired any other tools but SolarWinds. We do see where some other software may not be needed long term. The value add is hard to see this early, but I can see many other smaller items going in the near future. Automation is key with this product.
Very easy to use once initial setup is complete. Interface is clean and if you set up product groupings and dynamic groups and dashboards it will improve your overall experience. LogicMonitor is the first item I check each day when I get into the office. It's clean and lets me see issues I need to address.

The main feature product still lacks to compete fully with a SolarWinds is push of config changes. This is not a deal-breaker but would be of great help. The dashboards and alerting can be very detailed and flood you or give you the simple alerts you are looking for.
