Overall Satisfaction with Lucidchart

Lucidchart is the most useable charting system I have used (others include Visio and some of the other non-Microsoft ones). Overall, it could be better if they fixed some issues, and for my use improved the shortcuts. Diagramming is inherently very heavy on clicks and drags, and eliminating some of that by being able to more readily change the font, text size, line or border weight, etc would be huge for me in improving the effort/output ratio.
As a whole, I have used Lucidchart to help make decisions by creating diagrams that accurately represent reality. Like any organization, an accurate understanding of reality is critical to making fundamental changes to deliver better results. My org uses Lucidchart to document current states, design ideal states, and identify the points for change between current & ideal states. Others in our company/at previous companies have used Lucidchart heavily as a training tool. I have also used it to document workflows for clients when I was a consultant and to help train my employees on client processes when I was managing other consultants.

Pros

  • Extremely easy to get started.
  • Shapes library is well-labeled, making it easy to follow best practices.
  • Easy to share with colleagues.

Cons

  • Occasionally lines get twisted up and can be annoying to fix.
  • As heretical as it may seem, a desktop client with more robust keyboard shortcuts would be amazing.
  • Lucidchart was a key part of a project that improved EBITDA margin by 2% at a previous company (as in 2% of revenue not multiply EBITDA by 102%)
  • Used Lucid to improve customer experience as measured by CES from an average 9.1 to 9.7
  • Used Lucid to help design A/B tests and drive sales process improvements based on the results
Connecting with Google has been huge. I have not used other integrations as much, but Google's integration has eliminated huge admin overhead by making it a couple of clicks to update a chart in a presentation or document rather than needing to copy + paste the chart or image again. Overall it removes a lot of extra steps in a process that already happens too often!
Have never had to use Lucid's product support, but I have had CSMs and others reach out proactively and have no doubt they would help resolve any issues I have. Additionally, I have noticed many enhancements over the years I have been using them.

Are you happy with Lucid Visual Collaboration Suite's feature set?

Yes

Did Lucid Visual Collaboration Suite live up to sales and marketing promises?

Yes

Did implementation of Lucid Visual Collaboration Suite go as expected?

Yes

Would you buy Lucid Visual Collaboration Suite again?

Yes

Lucid is great for documenting existing processes AND for documenting ideal processes, designing user flows, working on UX, and lots of other aspects of experience/software design. In that sense, it can be used for product design, product enhancement, process improvement, and most anything else that involves a change from the current state to a better state. It is not as suitable for tracking the actual project plan around the changes, or the state of the project once the change is underway. I feel it is also not great for communicating about the process outside of the artifacts on the document itself & associated comments.
