Overall Satisfaction with Mailchimp
Mailchimp was used for email campaigns as they got us onboard with their free plan initially. Eventually, we upgraded for more features. It accomplishes the task of sending out newsletters for email-based marketing without ending up in spam folders if your content is not terrible. We needed a platform that did not require technical skill to design and send good-looking emails.
- Creating and managing contact lists.
- B2C marketing.
- Template selection.
- Scheduled send.
- B2B sales features.
- API/Transactional email.
- Power of Slack integration (bounces, etc.).
- Positive: Email deliverability was high.
- Negative: Lacked visibility on specific bounces to easily access for transactional emails.
- Negative: Dev time higher than necessary, in my opinion.
I don't love Mailjet or Mailchimp, to be honest. But Mailjet's service level was higher and interface was easy to use. Our developers also liked their API. We send over 5M emails a year using Mailjet and find it marginally better than Mailchimp. It also has the same issues of bad bounce rate tracking/integration drill down for transactional emails, and the web interface being very separate and unintuitive to work with in the API.
I don't think of Mailchimp as an all-in-one marketing anything. It's an email sending tool, it should be part of a broader marketing strategy but not the be all end all. It doesn't help with CMS, outbound calls, follow ups, etc. and it definitely can't compete with big CRM players. I don't think that is the right way to describe it at all. It's a newsletter platform that's been beefed up over the years.
Treat Mailchimp as that single piece of a broader strategy. It won't solve your marketing woes but is a good way to get email out if that is what your team needs. If you are a larger enterprise I'd hunt around to someone who specifically focuses on your use cases (so many platforms add value for B2B sales, for example).

I did not. I do not think that you should need to purchase "premium support" for simple service questions and issues.
I cannot. My only support experience was brutal.
