Overall Satisfaction with Mattermost
Mattermost is being used across an entire organization; however, it enables us to keep multiple workgroups in sync with each other and formulate best approach methods to tackle various problems that arise both internally and externally to the organization. We have geographically diverse individuals working within cross-spectrum workgroups to address problems that span vertically.
- Mattermost has an excellent mobile client.
- Mattermost has very fast & reliable instant messaging features.
- Mattermost integrates to other systems we use such as Big Blue Button.
- Mattermost has some issues with its messaging system.
- Mattermost's code is not straightforward for developing customizations.
- Bringing up our Mattermost instance cost us very little in terms of manpower and infrastructure, so ROI was almost immediate.
- Mattermost continues to deliver what we need for very little in maintenance works.
Mattermost was in a class of its own when compared to a host of Microsoft solutions and ownCloud. MS products are always encumbered with ongoing licensing and maintenance costs, plus the cost of people to maintain the servers those run on. Mattermost runs on a cloud VM and is basically self-healing for the most part. ownCloud was almost a success, but never quite achieved that, and then ownCloud's licensing and custom development got in the way.
