Overall Satisfaction with Microsoft Azure

We use it for spinning up virtual environments and hosting software for clients. We use cold and hot storage for client's servers and backups with Azure as they offer some of the best storage rates as compared to AWS. We can also spin up virtual domain and active directories for our clients to remove the heat and maintenance from small facilities on the edge of their environment that might not have a dedicated space for IT. This allows us to offsite not only IT but also the infrastructure.

  • Price on VMs
  • Could be easier to setup redundancy
  • Transparent price
  • Less equipment on site.
  • Less switching on site and support needed.
  • Less IT support needed to cover a single company.
Microsoft Azure is simpler than AWS with as much function and better support. It's also cheaper to buy if you partner with the right partners. It has a much cleaner interface and is well laid out. Easy to integrate with large companies that are already running on Microsoft and much easier to bring everything over native.
Being that it is a Microsoft product, support never closes as it is 24/7 for when you need that critical support. The people on the Azure team are always willing to help, since Azure is Owned by Microsoft you have support for all windows operating systems and servers. If you need help with an OS feature you can contact the same team. You can have almost all of your support in one location and support contracts from one vendor.
AWS is slower to spin up and has a far worse interface. It is more expensive to spin up and costs more for all storage types from hot, cold or archived. It costs more to spin up the exact same hardware specs on AWS as compared to Microsoft Azure. Backblaze B2 costs less for pure storage.
I have found the best use for Microsoft Azure is to off-site the IT hardware for infrastructure. Now IT can not only have the team off-site but they don't have to worry about the servers being touched by employees messing around in the network closets. It allows entire companies to be managed off site.
