Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use Microsoft IIS across the whole organization as a web server for our web projects. IIS is basically a requirement for those running web servers on Windows. We are using IIS to host multiple .NET web applications and websites.

Pros and Cons

IIS is easy to configure, quick to get up and running.
Ability to work with PowerShell
Separation of application pools for shared environments
Built in scalability options

Although it supports other technologies than .NET, it's not a straightforward process
Log files are difficult to find and read
Depends on Windows Server

Return on Investment

Most of our applications are hosted on Microsoft IIS.
We provide hosting services using IIS.
Negative - we depend on .NET applications for a smooth use.

The process of using IIS with non-Microsoft technologies must be improved.

Support Rating

We have never used customer support for Microsoft IIS. We usually search for questions in users communities.
