Use Cases and Deployment Scope

MS Power BI has been used in my company as a visualization tool along with QuickSight and Tableau. They all serve the same function that is interactive plots that can be saved and shared with others. Depending on which department it is, the team choose one of these options based on the data sources.

Amazon QuickSight and Tableau Online

Compared to Amazon QuickSight, if your dataset is coming from Amazon S3, it is much easier to just use QuickSight. However, if you are building a pipeline using prefect to transfer data, MS Power BI would potentially be a good tool to use and visualize the data by some none coding colleagues.

Usability

Overall, I would give MS Power BI a 7 out of 10 rating. It is a good tool to use for some none coding people and the tool makes it very easy to make interactive plots and share that with colleagues. The integration with R definitely is a big plus.

Support Rating

Compared to the fairly cheap cost of MS Power BI, the support that the company is providing is quite big. There are even some conferences that you are attend if you are interested. On the community support side, it is definitely not as supported as python or R but you still can find the information.

Likelihood to Recommend

I would recommend the MS power BI to colleagues who don't have coding skillset or to someone who wants to have interactive graphs to share with other colleagues. For people with strong coding ability, some python/ R packages can do that trick easily without the need for the premium fee.
