Overall Satisfaction with Microsoft Power BI Embedded
We needed a tool to track the rollout of the O365 mobile apps to the several thousand corporate mobile users within the company, in a way that was visual and engaging. We built an interactive Power BI dashboard which was embedded into an existing web application used by the core project team and project stakeholders. The dashboard showed the number of users who had followed the installation process, and could be filtered by region, country, company code, job role, division etc.
- Easily embedded into existing web application
- Allowed us to easily create engaging interactive dashboards
- Displayed rollout data in a meaningful way and made it easy to report to the project sponsor and senior management
- It was a little difficult to work out how to create certain visualisations, but there is extensive online help material to support with this.
- Had some issues with assigning pro licences but these were quickly resolved
- Small learning curve but no more so than similar applications

- Saved a significant amount of time for reporting current rollout status to project stakeholders
- Project stakeholders were able to view the live dashboards at any time so felt they had a better understanding of the rollout status
- Project stakeholders found it beneficial that they were able to set their own filters. For example, to view rollout status for their own departments.
I personally found Microsoft Power BI Embedded easier to use than Tableau. Compared to Microsoft Excel, I found it easier to create more complex reports and dashboards against larger datasets. We had a huge amount of data to display and Microsoft Power BI Embedded made this easy to show in an interactive dashboard that was embedded into an internal web application.
