Overall Satisfaction with Microsoft Visual Studio Code
Visual Studio Code comes fairly complete out of the box for small and big code projects, but there are many plug-ins available to extend its functionality. There's a new release of Visual Studio Code every month to improve the software and new features. A handy intergraded terminal readily available. For our projects is very fast and powerful.
- Integrated task runners
- Many plug-ins extensions available to extend its functionality
- Integrated Git control
- The autocomplete and code check could use more improvements.
- Running multiple instances of it at once can consume a lot of memory.
- Built-in documentation could use more improvements.
- A lot of great themes to make it fresh and exciting.
- Git integration so that you don't have to integrate any library or package to do so.
- VS Code is minimal yet super powerful and free and open source.
- Notepad++, Sublime Text and IntelliJ IDEA
VS Code feels sometimes heavier compared to other text editors like Notepad++. You can choose windows PowerShell, CMD, bash or node, and the terminal will just be as powerful within the VS Code as it is on it is own. it's free and open source. It's also being updated on a faster schedule than any of the other competitors.
