The top dog when it comes to professional email protection and management

Overall Satisfaction with Mimecast Information Protection
Mimecast advertises their Information Protection piece into 3 subcategories Content Control and DLP, Secure Messaging and Large File Send. We use the Content Control and Large File Send pieces. We actually use a large suite of Mimecast services across our whole organization and these two pieces tie right into the bigger picture of our offering to our customers. Content Control and Large File Send allow us to manage our email offering in a more granular way with capability such as flagging certain sensitive information for review before sending, automatically adding legalize into our emails and automating the sending of file attachments that are 20MB or more.
- It integrates with other Mimecast services providing a one stop shop for all email management. This is aprticuallry helpful when using all these products together since they are all managed from one web based portal.
- It is a very recognizable name among IT professionals allow ease of knowing many companies have been successful using this product.
- Some of the more complex features, such as setting up secure messaging, do require patience and a lot of testing to get it right.
- When sending many files with Large File send it does not zip them up into one file vs. sending them to the receiver as individual attachments that they have to download one at a time.
- The sensitive information scan has allowed us to meet the requirements set upon us by our bonding and insurance entities giving us the ability to bid for larger jobs that if we did not have a product like this.
- The Outlook based Large File Send piece has automated the sending of larger files for our users to the point that it does not require any intervention on their part - a big time saver.
We have also used the Proofpoint email suite, including their piece that would most be like the Mimecast Information Protection side. I believe Mimecast is both more widely used and a more mature product both on the specific Information Protection side as well as other parts of the complete email package. In the end, they both appeared to do the same thing but our limited IT support made the choice of Mimecast easy in that we could trust the product we were getting.
