Overall Satisfaction with MindJet MindManager

MindJet MindManger is used selectively by some members of my department as a vehicle for quick note taking during meetings, and also for mapping the areas we need to work on for each project. We have been able to map resources, tasks, project risks, and requirements for each of our projects. I believe it is also being used by other departments in my organization.
  • Quick brain dump
  • Categorizing thoughts and ideas
  • Capturing quick topics during meetings
  • Sometimes spacing between subtopics is tight
  • It can be hard to arrange topics on other areas of the page
  • Should add functionality for duplicating entries so retyping can be avoided
  • Increased efficiency
  • Increased clarity
  • Clearer presentations
I think MindManager can be used in place of note taking software, outlining software, and process mapping software. For some process mapping, we prefer to use Visio because of the variety of layouts and icons that can be used, and because it is easier to define cause and effect. I don't believe that MindManager has this capability.
The decision to renew the use of MindManager will be made by others in my company. I don't know if there is a need to purchase a newer version of the software, we will probably just continue using what we have, since it is meeting all of our needs. If the decision were up to me, I would definitely recommend that we continue to use MindManager.
I would ask what methodology is being used to take notes during meetings. If you are just trying to capture topics MindJet MindManger would be great, but not so much if you are trying to capture comments and exchanges between individuals during meetings. I would also ask what methodology is being used to present project overviews.
