Overall Satisfaction with MindJet MindManager

In my solo law practice technology consulting business, I use MindManager nearly every day to brainstorm, organize and present projects. It is especially effective at sorting out thoughts, issues and processes.
  • Outlining
  • Making relationships and issues visual
  • Reorganizing and condensing complex issues.
  • Allow multiple icons on topics, for additional emphasis
  • Constrain graphics size when importing to keep map from "exploding"
  • Export to Microsoft Word can work well, but a "receiving" template planned for MindManager content helps.
  • Clearer issue spotting and organization for writing.
  • Better meeting planning and execution.
  • Eliciting excitement about ideas.
I view MindManager in a class by itself. There are other mind mapping tools, but from brief tries, I find MindManager works best by itself, and in connection with Microsoft Office. Compared to outlining in Microsoft Word, for example, I always turn to MindManager first.
MindManager works best when beginning to think about an issue. While it can (and should) be used for presentation of ideas, it is not a replacement for writing a clear report. Often the MindMap serves as an outline that works along side written content.
