Overall Satisfaction with MIP Fund Accounting

MIP Fund Accounting tracks all income sources and funds associated with them. It keeps things simplified with the various fields for funds and departments codes. In a non-profit organization this is critical. The reporting options are flexible which allows me to design new reports quickly and produce the info requested on short notice.

Pros

Cons

  • would like the ability to drill down directly from the reports
  • would like to print GL reports without fund code detail
  • quick training available for new users
  • MIP has allowed us to break down our costs even further to be able to improve our use of funding.
  • I'm looking forward to streamlining our accounting processes even further as I learn more about the possibilities with MIP.
  • As we fundraise for specific projects, we are able to track income and expenses by project to give our donors true numbers on how the money was used.
I think the reporting options are one of the best I've seen within all accounting programs I've ever used. The ease of writing new reports makes this a wonderful program. With very little experience anyone can design the specific reports to fit the needs of their organization.
MIP can easily help us to adapt to our growing needs. We may move to the cloud in the future, although since the classic version is still available I expect we will keep renewing our use of MIP Fund Accounting. We are a small business and it still works for us.
This is the first time I've worked in the non-profit world. Accounting is somewhat different so I am very glad to be using a product designed specifically for non-profits. Many accounting processes are similar of course, but it is nice to have them tailored to fit the requirements of a non-profit organization.

It is a great program when a lot of detail is required for each transaction. It can be complicated if that extra detail is not needed though. I appreciate the various modules that are offered. Currently we don't use the cloud based platform although I expect that is in our future.
