Overall Satisfaction with Miro
Miro is being used at the College of Environmental Design, the University of California Berkeley as a tool for collaboration, presentation, and feedback from the start of the pandemic. It is currently used by undergraduate and graduate students in the Architecture program. It has been most effective for creating a sense of community, with students being able to collaborate and receive feedback on their work. The whiteboard allows for active engagement and participation in a remote format. Various courses (studio and labs) use it for presentations and crits. We have continued to use the platform even after switching to the in-person format. It has a clean and simple user interface and is easy to use. I had an issue with the number of team members that was sorted out very quickly by the Miro support team with the educational version. The support, response, and follow-ups are prompt and helpful.
Pros
- Collaborative experience
- Intuitive and easy to use
- Allows for student participation and engagement in the remote format
- Allow for large teams in the educational version
Cons
- The permissions and team assignments
- Speed for large boards and content
- Organization of the boards
- Tracking changes
- We got a free educational license
- Unlimited team members
Ours is an academic institution so it has helped in student collaboration and building a sense of community among the students who are typically working together in their studios otherwise. It has provided the opportunity for more engagement and participation.
Do you think Miro delivers good value for the price?
Yes
Are you happy with Miro's feature set?
Yes
Did Miro live up to sales and marketing promises?
Yes
Did implementation of Miro go as expected?
Yes
Would you buy Miro again?
Yes
Every product has pros and cons and Miro was among the best for the remote format and collaboration for a large group of students and teachers with the infinite whiteboard. Google jam board for example gets too chaotic with the sticky notes and the tools are not easy to use. Adobe has a steeper learning curve.
