Overall Satisfaction with Miro

I am using Miro as both an Assistant Professor at an Architecture Faculty and also as a professional in architecture. It's been a blessing as someone who is working in a visual, drawing-driven profession. Students would "hang" their plans on the board and I could draw on them for correction as I would usually do on sketch paper at the university. The same goes for collaborating on projects with professionals worldwide. Furthermore, it's very useful as a digital pin or mood board for inspiration that can be shared with others. Miro has revolutionized the way we teach online/digitally for the last 2 pandemic years and I will for sure implement it into teaching once we are allowed to get back into the universities again.
  • PRESENTATION OF PLANS
  • BOARDS TO COLLECT AND ORGANIZE IDEAS AND THOUGHTS
  • IMPLEMENTING VIDEOS + GIFS TO CREATE ONLINE EXHIBITIONS
  • VISUAL COMMUNICATION IN THE ACADEMIC AND PROFESSIONAL WORLD
  • TIMER FOR PRESENTATION IS PERFECT
  • HAS PROBLEMS WHEN ADDING PDFS
  • AUTOMATIC PLAY OF GIFS WOULD BE NICE
  • THE UI IS A BIT CONFUSING - MAKES IT A BIT TRICKY TO LEAVE TEAMS
  • IMPROVES EXCHANGE OF IDEAS
  • IMPROVES COMMUNICATION WITH STUDENTS
  • IMPROVES COMMUNICATION WITH CO WORKERS
Use it right at the start of your projects. Delete projects, that u don't use anymore. Download a PDF as a backup of your boards. Make projects with specific team members before opening a board, otherwise, you'd be sharing the board with people that shouldn't have access to them.
Miro has been a bit tricky to understand at the beginning. Maybe the UI could be a bit better. Once you understood how to add people to projects or teams, it's a very easy and unproblematic working tool. You do have to be aware that a board must not be too full. Otherwise, it will slow down and images stopped loading. Only upload 150dpi images onto the board.
Without Miro teaching wouldn't have been possible in the 2 years of digital teaching in the architecture department. It was the perfect digital "twin" to the usual desk crits or presentations. Paired with an iPad or drawing board it made exchange through sketches and image drops very easy. In my point of view, it even improved presentations, because suddenly everybody was sitting in the front row and was able to follow the thought process of their peers. I was an assistant professor who wouldn't be able to fulfill my remote courses in this quality without Miro.

ONLINE DESK CRITS Students would pin their plans on a board and I would draw on them either with my mouse or even better with my IPad just like I would do with sketch paper. Furthermore, I would pin images of references the students should check out for their design. ONLINE PRESENTATIONS Students pin their final plans on a board and start to present their work. They would bring everyone to them and a timer can be set so the presentation flows well. ONLINE COLLECTIVE BOARDS When finding ideas for new projects I would create a board where everybody could add ideas that later can be discussed.
