Overall Satisfaction with Miro

We use Miro for workshops, brainstorming, documentation. It's incredibly valuable in collaborating with coworkers now that we all work from home. It's the closest thing we have to white-boarding ideas without actually being in the same room as each other. A lot of other diagramming tools fall short in comparison to Miro.

Pros

  • Multiple users working in one diagram at the same time
  • Variety of templates
  • Easy to use

Cons

  • Onboarding users who don't have experience with navigating design systems (eg hold down space and click to move, scroll with mouse to zoom etc)
  • Account sharing/access; just providing read access to users from the same organisation would be helpful
  • Creating boards in different teams can be a bit confusing. I've created boards quickly and then realised they are in the wrong space and can have trouble finding them later
  • Continue operating while everyone is working from home
  • Create and share brainstorm sessions without having to transcribe from a whiteboard/post its
  • Go from having a conversation to capturing ideas in a few minutes
I didn't really implement Miro in to any any other products so I can't really comment on this and the question says it's skippable but it's not.. I guess I paste Miro links in to Slack sometimes and the preview shows, that's pretty standard but I do appreciate it. Maybe if it told me if the other users I'm sharing the board with can actually access the board like Google Drive does, that would be helpful.
Completely irreplaceable. I started a new job during the pandemic in 2020. I was onboarded entirely from home without having met any of my coworkers for nearly 6 months. We have countless brainstorms and sessions on Miro to imagine a new content platform. I used Miro with developers to imagine a content metadata model, to come up with tagging and classification systems with my content team, to brainstorm ideas and future features with stakeholders and team members.
In my previous role we didn't have a tool like Miro and so to me the whiteboarding ability Miro provides was groundbreaking.

Do you think Miro delivers good value for the price?

Not sure

Are you happy with Miro's feature set?

Yes

Did Miro live up to sales and marketing promises?

I wasn't involved with the selection/purchase process

Did implementation of Miro go as expected?

I wasn't involved with the implementation phase

Would you buy Miro again?

Yes

Lucidchart is good for diagraming but not good for collaborating. It's also very expensive. It's probably better for engineers, but not so much for creative types.
Google Drive doesn't really have a comparable diagramming capabilities with templates.
Jira and Trello are focused on task management. We used to do our retros in Trello but it's just not as good as Miro.
Workshopping or brainstorming when all users are in different offices. Creating documentation using screenshots and callouts to demonstrate new functionality. Calling out opportunities in products. Looking for diagrams to communicate ideas when you don't know what format or template to use (search Miro templates for what is available and play around to see if that works for the scenario you are thinking about)
