really cool review
Overall Satisfaction with Miro
On my sprint team, we use it for biweekly sprint reviews. My eng lead creates a board with sections for "went well," "could have gone better," etc, and we add sticky notes with our thoughts, then take some time to react/comment on each other's submissions, then discuss everything at the end.
Pros
- Stable, fast, reliable, never felt frustrating to use
- Pretty intuitive, feels like a natural extension, things work how (& are located where) I would expect
- Has a good feature set for the way we use it, without feeling overwhelmingly complex
Cons
- Maybe some kind of actions/events log in the sidebar ("Chris reacted 😀 to your note. 13s ago") would be useful?
- Perhaps could consider making the sticky notes auto-resize within certain bounds; I tend to type a lot of the words, and then it's in like tiny 5pt font, and I have to drag and enlarge them every time
- It's a fun and pleasant tool that makes our sprint reviews go smoothly; feels more interesting and engaging than Jira or other tools we use
- It's easy to share and review later; info doesn't get lost
- It makes it easy for everyone on the team, even quieter folks to share their thoughts and put their ideas down. (I guess this is partly because it doesn't really shine a big spotlight on you immediately when you start writing something, etc. - and the "infinite canvas" design makes it feel like you've got "your own space" and aren't "cramped" / getting "elbowed out" of writing something when someone else is trying to write in the same space at the same time, etc...)
It's a great collaboration tool. My team is about evenly split between ATL and NYC, and Miro makes it easy for us to "meet" and share thoughts with no trouble. Without Miro, we could still get the job done with other tools like GDocs or Jira, perhaps, but Miro feels more tailor-made for this kind of synchronous convening, and like it's well-designed to do exactly what we want for that time.
