Overall Satisfaction with monday.com

We currently use Monday.com across our whole company. We are a small team, but 3 major departments— Editorial, Production and Sales— use it collaboratively to manage all of our projects. It has been a great tool for project management and collaboration. The templated boards and automations have been key in its success for us.
  • We publish magazines on a monthly basis, the templated boards have been a great tool for managing the status of each issue.
  • The automations between other platforms we use have cut down a lot of busy work and have allowed us to create new processes to speed up and simplify workflow.
  • The interface, particularly the different workspaces, work well for managing our different publications.
  • Setting up the boards initially was a little clunky. Linking the status and due date columns for deadlines was not intuitive. It took some figuring out.
  • While the automations are helpful, some tweaking could make them even more efficient.
  • Unless I'm just unaware, I wish there was a preset that you could save for the labels across all workspaces and boards. Have to recreate them for each new board is a little annoying.
  • We have definitely saved money switching to Monday.com from our previous PM platform.
  • We have saved time in setting up automations with our email campaigns.
  • Templated boards for each issue has saved time in our workflow.
There were some aspects of the custom board template set-up that weren't so intuitive.
I would give it a 7 because I feel like they hit the mark with support, but I haven't experienced anything above what any other software/service provider would give. I also have not had to contact customer support too often, which is a good thing!
Overall Monday.com has delivered as promised. The interface is appealing and easy to use, and there are a lot of resources to figure out any problem you may encounter.

monday.com & Collaboration

I work for a magazine publisher and we use Monday to manage our production. We can easily move articles and tasks from editorial to the production team all the way from story ideation to final layout in print and digital.
I would rate it a 7. The more I've worked in Monday, it's proved to be a solid platform, but there are some things I wish could be better.
A specific issue is how it communicates with other software we are using. There is limited flexibility with importing data from the other software programs. I also wish there were different viewing options with the My Work feature. I would love to see a calendar view rather than a listing of all the different cards.

Using monday.com

6 - Managers, editors, sales, writers, designers
4 - We are a small in-house team so we each have lend our hand in troubleshooting and finding resources for tech support.
  • Managing print issues
  • Managing digital media
  • Managing outside client projects
  • We synced MagHub with Monday so we can import all of our ad tickets in MagHub and have them be created as a card/task for each print issue
  • I would like to see us managing budgets for each issue in the future
Monday has been solid so far, we've been using it for almost 2 years at this point. For the price point and our team size (we are small) it provides a lot of use and value to us.

Evaluating monday.com and Competitors

Yes - We were previously using ProjectPlace, but it was becoming way too expensive.
  • Price
  • Product Features
  • Product Usability
Ultimately it came down to price. We are a small company and at the point of purchase essentially a start-up. Monday provided what we were needing at a fair price.
We took advantage of the free trial before making a commitment, so I think I might have played around with a few more product trials to get a better comparison. But, we've made Monday work for us and have been happy with the switch.

No, because we are a small team and our use with Monday is pretty basic, we did not make that purchase.
I can't think of anything exceptional, other than the fact that I have not had to reach out to support very often which I find to be a huge bonus! The product is intuitive enough to figure out without a lot of extra support.
