Overall Satisfaction with NetSuite ERP
We primarily use NetSuite as our general ledger. However, we also use the reporting and fixed asset modules. It allows us to properly report results to the organization, pay bills, track assets, consolidate entities, and reconcile accounts.
Pros
- It provides history on transaction changes
- it has many reporting options
- it has a simple method to close and consolidate periods/entities at month end
Cons
- the canned reporting is lacking
- both instances where I've used the software we had internal control failures because it allows any combo of controls/transactions without warning
- I think the bank reconciliation feature is not easy to use
- It has allowed us to scale
- The cost is much less than full service competitors
In my opinion, SAP ERP is a monster of a program. It is extremely difficult to implement due its complexity. NetSuite is much easier and cheaper to implement. It is also easy to add entities in NS. However, if a robust system is needed or your company is medium to large in size, SAP is better for that purpose all around.
