Overall Satisfaction with Nutanix AOS

We migrated entire organization's server virtualization infrastructure from the traditional 3 tier systems to Nutanix late 2019. This change has significantly stabilized the organization from the perspective of the application, database, file shares uptime and performance. It wasn't uncommon for applications to go down due to variety of random issues prior to Nutanix. It's been 5 months with zero issues.
  • The metadata-based snapshot & cloning saves time & storage significantly.
  • I really love their one-click upgrade. It really makes OS & firmware update/upgrade easy.
  • Performance metrics is really great. I stopped looking at the vCenter's performance data because AOS' info is much more detailed, accurate and relevant.
  • It's already great but I'd love to see even more details in the Performance area for VMs and hosts.
  • The Analytics dashboard is not as intuitive as the rest of the Prism. Wish they'd enhance it so admins can easily pull up historical data.
  • Would like to see better design of the Prism home dashboard. 99% of the time I only view the left 50% of the screen. I feel the other 50% of the screen can be better used.
  • Workload higher uptime.
  • Less time spent on managing by by the IT team.
  • Higher trust of IT by the business.
Most technicians I worked with provided a very proactive and knowledgeable support.

Reduced datacenter foot print and solid reputation over the years combined with success stories from others have steered us into going with Nutanix.
Yes, I received a 1-week training and felt confident with managing it by myself. Big kudos to the Nutanix community. I was able to find help thru Xtribe, Nutanix Education & Forum, their documentation and twitter whenever I needed help. Plus their phone support team was always willing to help...even before our account was active. Try that with Citrix...
Since we moved from the SATA and SAS storage to flash-fronted Nutanix, everything is running faster overall.
Nutanix AOS is a hands-down much better thought-out and more robust solution than vSAN.
Better priced than SimpliVity.
Simpler HCI solution than Pure.
AOS is a great fit for small to medium size businesses for all types of workloads. I'd recommend in a heartbeat because it reduces the need for proprietary SAN skill sets. You'd still want to have 1~2 senior level engineers with deep understanding of storage, hypervisor, and networking but in comparison, the IT infrastructure team would spend less than 50% of time to keep the workloads humming with Nutanix.

It's also a great solution for a satellite offices of decent size and larger enterprises if scaling up compute & storage simultaneously is the business model.
