Overall Satisfaction with Oracle Cloud Platform
Oracle Cloud Platform is used for deploying company-wide, both internal and external applications spanning multiple geographies worldwide. This includes web applications with Oracle Database and mobile applications used by customers.
- Oracle Cloud Platform can provide consistent latency guarantees in multiple geographics.
- It works well with Oracle Database that is being used as the primary database without the need for custom configuration.
- Oracle Cloud Platform has reasonable customization options to fine-tune it for workloads that require very low latency for events/transactions.
- The management console for Oracle Cloud Platform is a bit sluggish and can be made more intuitive.
- There is still room for adding more KPIs and configuration parameters to Oracle Cloud Platform that can give users more ways to fine-tune compute/memory/bandwidth-intensive workloads.
- Pricing (assuming no discounts from a sales rep) can be improved to compete with Google and Amazon AWS.
- Positive ROI for enabling customer-facing and internal applications that achieve the right KPIs
- Positive impact on business for enabling near real-time business processes and analytics
- Positive ROI for being able to be able to move a workload from on-prem to the public cloud as needed with minimal CapEx.
If you already have considerable Oracle licenses, then Oracle Cloud Platform is the best option. If most of your applications and needs are Windows-based, then Microsoft Azure is the best choice. Google GCP is on par with Oracle Cloud Platform in various features, including global reach. Cisco Hybrid Cloud Platform is an excellent choice if you have some interesting network requirements for the application to be deployed.
